About the Project
It is said that there are five love languages, but in reality, there are six. Food is a love language, well at least for me and my family.

My grandma grew up in Guatemala and when she immigrated to the United States she brought her culture with her. In Hispanic culture, food is a way of showing love and bringing people together. Looking back, I cannot recall celebrating anything without food.

The dishes I've grown up eating were verbally passed down from my great grandma to my grandma. Since I no longer live with my grandma, I have found myself calling her and asking her how to create these dishes that have come to represent not only flavors, but memories as well.

For this project, I decided to help these recipes stand the test of time by creating a cookbook. Hecho Con Amor contains photographs and written recipes that have been within my family for generations.

Professionally, this project aligns with my career goals by providing a portfolio piece that showcases my photography skills.

In the end, I spent 82 hours photographing, designing, and transcribing recipes for this cookbook.
